We had our final MCF summer league match was played away at Bolton on Monday night and Heywood won by 3.5 - 1.5 to give them the Div 4 championship, well done all players for details of match go here.
Soon to be announced Heywood Chess Club Knock out competition, to begin after the completion of the Club Championship which will be a two part affair, first a 4 round swiss individual followed by the top 4 meeting in a knock out semi final and then final.
All members are to be reminded that club matches are serious games and that noise and chatter should be kept to a bare minimum please respect players who are trying to concentrate. Also a point to note we have noted that some of our posh chess sets are getting damaged (chips off some pieces)! Members are reminded that these are expensive items and should be handled carefully. These sets should be stored carefully in the right hand cupboard in the lift up lid, please do not slam it down!
We had a county game a few weeks ago and Lancashire beat Cumbria in the Northern Counties Final by 9.5 - 2.5! So this means that we are Northern Champions and now we will progress to the National finals in June, very well done to all Heywood players who took part. For details check here.

Chess Club housekeeping
Just a reminder to :
1. Leave the room as you found it ie two chairs on both sides of the tables, boiler in kitchen switched off, lights switched off, glasses returned to the bar area.
2. Help to save the planet by ensuring the digital clocks are switched off before returning them to their boxes.
I think that's all for now.
See you at the club,
Steve Flaherty😃
